The fabric of our Standard Bandana is woven in Japan and bears the telltale selvedge edge of the loom's shuttle. The cloth is dyed in Hamamatsu, and discharge printed by hand in Yokohama.
After the printing and pressing, the bandanas are washed and air-dried outdoors. In stark contrast to industry standard mechanical-drying, this natural drying process yields a softer, more authentic finish.
Once dried, the fabrics are transported to the Nishiwaki area of Hyogo Prefecture, where they are sewn into their final form. Owing to the selvedge above, only three sides require stitching, the fourth edge remaining untouched.
From beginning to end, these bandanas are the product of human hands, following venerable, time-tested methods. They are truly one-of-a-kind items, harking back to an era when craftsmanship had not yet given way to the cold efficiency of the machine.
