American Wool Base Layer

American Wool Base Layer

The foundations to any adventure. The inherent benefits of wool as a performance fabric are indisputable: it is naturally breathable and soft, it has a high warmth-to-weight ratio, it regulates body temperatures in cold and warm climates, it keeps you warm even when it's wet, it dries extremely fast, and it resists odor. Our base layer is made from an American-raised Rambouillet sheep, a breed that is renowned for a soft and resilient wool which we then knit into a mid-weight base layer fabric (191 g/m²), dye it in the "Famous Red" colors, and then cut and sew it in the USA with a flatlock stitched Raglan sleeve for greater mobility in the shoulders and less chaffing when wearing a pack. The Best Made Wool American Base Layer is elemental and unrivaled in its origins, quality, and comfort. Machine wash cold, tumble dry low.
